Map
The Map is the central view displaying tracked elements.
A sidebar provides access to search and the lists of Tracked Objects, Tracked Teams, GeoPaths, GeoFences, and Base Stations.
All elements can be shown or hidden. The visibility state is persistent across browser sessions.
The sidebar itself can also be toggled.
Tracked Objects
Clicking the + button opens a dialog which is the same as the one used in the Tracked Objects Management section.
After adding the Tracked Object, it is displayed in the sidebar. The Tracked Object will be printed onto the map when a new GeoLocation comes in for the associated Subscriber.
Each element inside the sidebar has an interaction menu which can be opened by clicking on the three dots.
In the case of a Tracked Object, this menu consists of the following options:
- Center – centers the map on the object
- Details – shows: Name, SSI, Last Latitude, Last Longitude, Speed, Last Seen At, Last Uplink RSSI, Last Uplink Node
- Location history - see Location History for details
- Edit – edit object details
- Stop Tracking (delete) – remove the object from tracking
Upon clicking a Tracked Object on the map, a Tooltip with detailed information about the Tracked Object is displayed.
This tooltip displays the same information as the Details dialog from the interaction menu.
Additionally, the Tracked Object is highlighted in the sidebar, to simplify the way of finding a specific Tracked Object in the sidebar.
Location History
The Location History of a Tracked Object can be used to track down the location of a specific Tracked Object at a specified time.
The Location History of a Tracked Object can be accessed via the interaction menu.

In the selection dialog either a Duration of which to display the locations from or a Count of locations is provided.
Duration – choose start and end date

Count – specify number of past positions to load

In both cases the number of elements found for the specified filter will be displayed in the bottom right corner.
After confirming, the map will switch into the Location History mode where only the selected Tracked Object and the Geo Fences and Geo Paths are visible. A panel shows additional information an provides a slider to switch through the locations.
The icon of the Tracked Object will move when moving the slider. Additionally, each position can be clicked to reveal the details of that position.
By default, the saturation of the positions will decrease with increasing age, meaning that newer positions are more saturated than older positions. This behaviour can be changed to make the saturation depend on the signal strength of the position.
This can help to identify areas with bad connection on routes that are highly frequented
On the bottom of the panel are Controls to:
- Export – export the location history
- Close – exit location history mode
Tracked Teams
By default, Teams only consist of a list of subscribers and do not contain any information about color or an associated icon.
Clicking the + button in the Tracked Teams area of the sidebar opens a dialog to select a Team to track and assign a color and icon with the Tracked Objects that will be created.
After adding the Team to the list of Tracked Teams, Tracked Objects will be created for the each subscriber of the Team that does not already have a Tracked Object associated to itself. The names of these new Tracked Objects will be prefixed with the name of the Team.
There are multiple ways to untrack a team:
- Stop tracking team but keep tracked objects
- Team will not be tracked anymore but the Tracked Objects will remain tracked
- Stop tracking team and tracked objects
- Team will not be tracked anymore and the Tracked Objects will be removed
GeoPaths
Geo Paths are a way of defining routes. These can be used to enforce speedlimit or just to highlight frequently used routes.
A Geo Path can be added by clicking the + button in the Geo Paths area of the sidebar.
The map will switch into the drawing mode and points can be selected to create a Geo Path.
After completing the Geo Path it will have a default color and be unnamed. This can be changed in the Edit dialog which is accessible via the interaction menu in the sidebar.
After changing the color of the Geo Fence it will displayed in that color on the map. Geo Fences can also be centered and deleted via the interaction menu.
GeoFences
Geo Fences play a key part in GroundControl VGRS. They provide a simple way to perform pre-defined actions relative to a Tracked Objects position. These might include warnings or other forms of communication with Tetra Subscribers.
A Geo Fence can be added by clicking the + button in the Geo Fences area of the sidebar.
Geo Fences can bei either drawn onto the map or be tied to a Tracked Object.
Draw GeoFence
The map will switch into the drawing mode and points can be selected to create a Geo Fence. There are three modes available to create different shapes.
GeoFence from Tracked Object
A dialog will be opened which is similar to the Edit Geo Fence dialog but allows for a Tracked Object to be selected and a radius to be defined.
To show a Tracked Object has a Geo Fence attached to it, there will be a circle drawn the size of the specified radius in a slightly more transparent version of the color of the Tracked Object.
Geo Fences can be centered, edited and deleted via the interaction menu.
Edit Geo Fence dialog
The dialog provides a number of configurable options:
- Name, icon, color of the geofence
- Whether a text or voice warning should be sent immediately when the geofence is entered, can be disabled for individual subscribers or whole teams
- DGNA (Dynamic Group Name Assignment): automatically add a talk group when the fence is entered
- Priority: determines which fence takes precedence. Priority 0 = highest priority; lower number priorities cover higher number priorities
DGNA behaviour:
When a geofence is entered, the group is added with a specified assignment mode and class of usage.
When leaving a geofence, you can configure whether the group should be removed or just deselected by choosing the correct assignment mode and class of usage
Additionally you can specify, that the previously assigned group should be re-assigned with a specific assignment mode and class of usage.
