Installation Overview
This section describes how to install GroundControl VGRS using the provided installer.
Prerequisites
Before installation, please review the Requirements page.
For running GroundControl VGRS, the following components must be installed and available:
- .NET Runtime
- RabbitMQ
- SQL Server
Installation vs. Operation Requirements
These prerequisites are required for operation, but not for completing the installation itself. You can install GroundControl VGRS first and configure these components afterwards.
Installation Process
GroundControl VGRS is distributed as a Windows installer (.exe). The setup wizard guides you through the following steps:
1. Welcome Page - Introduction to the installation process
2. Component Selection - Choose which components to install. Installing all components is recommended.
3. Installation Location - Specify the directory where GroundControl VGRS should be installed
4. Installation Progress - Progress bar indicating installation status of files and services
5. Completion Page - Confirmation that installation has finished successfully

Updating GroundControl VGRS
GroundControl VGRS supports two update methods:
- Binary Update Replace existing files with updated binaries provided by the vendor.
- Executable Updater (Recommended)
Run the delivered update package (
.exe) to automatically apply updates.
Full Reinstallation May Be Required
In rare cases (e.g., incompatible versions or breaking changes), a full reinstallation of GroundControl VGRS may be necessary. The installer will guide you through the process when required.
Backup Before Updates
Always perform a backup before applying any update. For detailed instructions, see the Backup page.
